Is mistborn a good series?
Its well crafted magic system makes it standout from other unnecessarily long dystopian YA books. I’d give it 6/10. The magic is legitimately great and leads to most of the best scenes in the series. There’s like two or 3 acceptable characters but mistborn strength is never about that characters.
Should I read mistborn?
But you should read the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson , because it’s so much more than “just” fantasy, and also, totally not the kind you might be expecting (and dreading). The Final Empire, in which the three novels are set, might seem like your classic fantasy setting.

Is mistborn or Stormlight better?
I would start with Mistborn. The books are a good introduction to Sanderson’s writing style, but have a bit more action to draw you in. The Stormlight Archives are as much about the world as the characters or action, so it can feel a bit slow at times.
Do I need to read mistborn before Stormlight?
As others have said, you don’t need to read any books prior to Stormlight Archive. … It’s certainly not necessary for understanding Stormlight Archive, but all the talk of Honor and Cultivation and Odium certainly is likely to make a bit more sense if you’ve read the Mistborn series first.
Is Oathbringer worth reading?
Oathbringer has a ton of plot and worldbuilding, so if you love those aspects of storytelling, you’ll probably love it. It is one of the greatest books i’ve read, but compared to the other two (and a half) SA books I liked it a tiny bit less.
When should I read Edgedancer?
Sanderson has stated before that Lift is one of his favorite characters and that she will have a larger role later on in the Stormlight series. Edgedancer flows in perfectly after WoR. I would definitely recommend reading it before Oathbringer.
Do I need to read Dawnshard before rhythm of war?
“You don’t have to have read [Dawnshard] before [Rhythm of War],” Sanderson said. “It’s not hugely integrated because it’s about Rysn. … But you would appreciate having read the novella when you get to it.” So, if you’re a completionist, it sounds like Dawnshard is a definite yes.
Why is mistborn so good?
Kelsier’s crew are a band of charismatic and charming rogues of the mayhem causing kind. The dialogue between them all is so dynamic and it’s great characters like this that make Mistborn such an enjoyable trilogy. Allomancy is perhaps THE BEST system of magic I have ever came across within the fantasy genre.

When should I read mistborn secret history?
Anytime after era one is okay to read Secret History. Many recommend to wait until after Bands of Mourning, but I didn’t do that and it was fine. … Secret History was designed to be read after Bands, but I agree that anytime after finishing Era 1 is “safe” to read it.
Which Brandon Sanderson book should I read first?
ElantrisElantris is the first book Sanderson wrote. Many say for this fact alone it should then be the first to read. There is an argument for this, but I put it second just because I feel this one is easier to get into after the introduction of Mistborn.
Should I read Edgedancer before Oathbringer?
It’s strongly recommended. Edgedancer covers a lot of ground with Lift (previously seen in a WoR interlude) and advances a plotline that is otherwise glossed over in Oathbringer. It is not a necessity, but it would definitely add to the story, as it describes an encounter between Lift and Nale.
Are mistborn and Stormlight connected?
The cosmere is the greater universe in which The Stormlight Archive – and many of Brandon Sanderson’s other adult fiction books – take place. Can I read Way of Kings before mistborn?
You can read the Mistborn trilogy (I’m deliberately leaving out Allow of Law which is part of the series) and get to a satisfactory end, whereas with Way of Kings, the series is unfinished, so you’ll get to the end and then have to wait around for the next in the series.
